So, what’s the Craic?

Well, development of Shift is well underway and you can find out more about it in our FAQ below. Meanwhile, here's what we're currently up to with our newsletter and podcast, aptly named The Craic.

So really, what's the story?

What's Shift all about, you ask. Here's the FAQ. Feel free to ask us more.

What's Shift? And is it for me?

Shift is the global network for all people, and all things Irish. It's currently under development with the beta website launching for St. Patrick's Day 2025. The first iteration of Shift is a directory of Irish events and pubs across the globe. We will grow to spotlight Irish artists, musicians, comics, and other Irish influencers and entertainers. We will promote their shows and spread their reach. Shift will also enable a deeper connection with the Irish organizations, clubs and pubs wherever you are. The Shift mobile app will arrive soon after, which will bring an additional personal experience opening up IRL (in real life) connections with other Irish people, for friendships, relationships and professional network building.  Shift is for the Irish at home, the Irish abroad, and anyone else who enjoys the pint, the craic, or anything else Irish.

Why now? And is this just another social network?

Because it's needed. Making friends is hard. Finding partners is difficult. The digital culture we're living in has consumed us in our phones and on our screens. Shift is different. We're using technology to save us from technology, to connect with the world with our culture of ceoil agus craic ("music and fun", though "fun" doesn't do our wee word "craic" justice). A pub by definition is a "public house", open to all, Irish and not-so-Irish. Shift will be the first true IRL (in real life) social network. For now, it's DIY, so check out an Irish music session. Attend a Paddy's Day event. Sit down at the bar, and chat to your bartenders and fellow pub patrons. Get the chat going, and you'll realize you too have the gift of the gab.

How can I get involved? I want in.

Thanks for asking! ;) We're in full-on build mode, but we want contributors to join the mission - Investors to fund the future vision, patrons to support and spread the news, ambasssadors for every city, every pub, and every Irish organization in the world. We're waiting for your email. Give us a shout at team@shift.irish.

Wait, doesn't Shift mean...

Hah. You passed the test. Yes, if you grew up in Ireland you know what it means to get the Shift. And yes, when the Shift mobile app arrives, there will be a dating component, so hopefully you get the shift yerself if that's what you're looking for. But you don't need to be single and looking to use Shift. It's for platonic, professional and cultural connections too.
